Severe Weather

Service Cancellation Policy

Please be advised that Kalamazoo Meditation Group Services will be cancelled if a severe weather warning is issued by the National Weather Service that includes our church area (the city of Paw Paw or immediate surrounding areas) within 2 hours prior or after a regularly scheduled service. It will be the responsibility of each member to be aware of severe weather warnings prior to a scheduled service. This includes severe thunderstorm warnings, tornado warnings and winter storm warnings.

A severe weather warning indicates that severe weather is occurring in the area, creating dangerous conditions that may be a threat to life or property.

A severe weather warning is differentiated from a severe weather watch in that a severe weather watch indicates that conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather and provides advance notice. Please visit Wikipedia  or any other resource for additional information about the Severe Weather Terminology in the United States.

What to Expect

First time visitors are encouraged to attend the Sunday 11:00 a.m. reading service to get an idea of what the services are like. This service includes devotional chanting, readings from the Bible and Bhagavad Gita which include interpretations from Paramahansa Yogananda, and short meditation periods of about 10 minutes each.

The chapel is quiet, with comfortable seating. Attire is casual but respectful. During warm weather we request that you please dress modestly. We also request attendees to refrain from wearing colognes or any other strong scents during services.

If you bring a cell phone into the chapel, we ask that it be turned off or placed into a silent mode. Please note that "vibrate modes" are not considered to be silent in the quiet atmosphere of the chapel.
